the initial examination
We will ask you to complete paperwork consisting of some personal information as well as a health questionnaire. Your personal information will only be shared with other health professionals assisting in the completion of your care.
Typically, the initial appointment is mainly information gathering where we can discuss your treatment goals, perform a thorough clinical examination as well as make molds of your teeth and ensure the appropriate x-rays have been made. We may also take clinical photos as necessary for communication and documentation of your oral status prior to any treatment.
For complex treatment, a treatment options letter is provided prior to a second consultation visit which is included in the initial examination fees. This visit is typically scheduled 3-4 weeks after the initial visit.
The goal of the second visit is to ensure that you understand your current dental situation as well as the options provided, answer any questions and assist you in determining your best course of treatment.
Once a course of treatment is decided upon, we can help you with completing insurance predeterminations if desired, as well as provide a detailed estimate and suggested sequence to complete treatment. Referrals to other dental specialists may be made at this time depending upon the nature of the treatment to be provided.
